The Blyth News 10/10/1921 carries the following:
"Bellis – In loving memory of my dear son, Alfred S. Bellis, accidentally drowned in Dunkirk Harbour, France, Oct. 10th 1917 off H.M. Motor Launch 22.
What dangers he faced I never knew
I did not see him die;
But this I know, he is gone -
Did not get time to bid me a last goodbye.
Ever remembered by his sorrowing mother.
J.A. Coyne, High Street."
He is remembered in Blyth on B42.24 and on our List of Ships’ crews
