On the Basra Memorial is the name of 457557 Sapper Robert Hope, serving with the Royal Engineers who died 02/06/1918.

In Blyth Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
William
The beloved husband of
Janet Hope
Who died Sept. 30th 1891
Aged 35 years.
"In the midst of life we are in death"
Sappr. Robert Hope, N.D.R.E.
their son was drowned while
bridge repairing with the
Mesopotamia Forces, June 2nd 1918
Aged 35 years.
The above Janet
Died March 6th 1922
Aged ?83 years.

He is remembered in Blyth on B42.14, B42.24 and B42.34 and in Cowpen on C58.01
