Beattie, F.G., Pte., 1916
In Adanac Military Cemetery, Miraumont, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 200856 Private Frederick George Beattie, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 15/09/1916.

The de Ruvigny Roll of Honour, which describes him as being a Lance Corporal, carries the following:

Beattie, Frederick George, L.Corpl., No. 2703, 4th (Territorial) Battn. The Northumberland Fusiliers; son of William Beattie The Mains, Simonburn, Estate Joiner, and his wife Thomasina, daughter of William Smith of Matfen; born Simonburn, Humshaugh, 28 Feb. 1893; educated there; was an Estate Joiner at Matfen; enlisted 1 May 1915; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from 5 Jan. 1916; was reported missing after the fighting on the Somme 15 Sep following and is now assumed to have been killed in action on that date. Unmarried.

He is remembered at Simonburn on S32.06 and S32.07
