In Hexham (St Andrew’s) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

1523 Private
R.D. Oliver
Northumberland Fusiliers
and Army Cyclist Corps.
27th November 1917, age 23.

He gave his life for us.

Richard was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Oliver of 3 Beaumont Street, Hexham. He originally served with the 4th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers (14255) but was transferred to the Army Cyclist Corps.
