R.M. Welch
"Robert Welch was a member of our family and a full cousin of my father’s. He died on the 28th October 1916 only 19 years of age, and was the son of Robert and Leah Mary Welch of Hexham, he was their first born child. His eldest sister died in 2002 aged 101. His number was 6669, 1st/5th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers and is remembered with honour on Thiepval memorial, Somme, France. Also on the cenotaph in Hexham Park next to the Abbey”
