The Journal 13/12/2012 tells his story. His two pairs of flying goggles, a morse code key, a pair of flying boots and release book had been offered up for auction following his death aged 90. The article tells how he escaped death when his Liberator crash landed at Sumburgh in Shetland in 1944. He later met the German pilot who shot his aircraft down, killing one of the crew.
He later went on to work Newcastle City Council, then for Dunlop in South Africa before returning to live in Acomb.
