Ridley, J.W,, Sgt., 1944
In the Sai Wan War Cemetery, Hong Kong, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1078047 Sergeant (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner) James Walton Ridley, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 16/04/1944.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

He was killed in Consolidated Liberator Mk.III BZ952 ‘X’ of 357 Sqn, R.A.F., which flew into a mountain in cloud, 30 miles west of Weining, China, on April 6th 1944. Also killed on board were 1030419 Flight Sgt Richard Applegarth Dunn of Byrness, and 1564130 Aircraftman First Class Charles Henry Hutt of Gateshead.

James Walton Ridley is remembered in Corbridge on C52.06, at St.John Lee on S1.02 and in Hexham on H51.25
