Blaylock, J.W., Pte., 1916
In Daours Communal Cemetery Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 23/614 Private John William Blaylock, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 03/07/1916.

Susan Carmichael has provided the following.

John William Blaylock was the son of Mason and Jane (nee Irving) Blaylock, of 27, Milburn Terrace, Bomersund, Choppington, His father was a coal miner.

His parents, Mason and Jane, were married in the 4th quarter of 1888, the marriage was registered in Cockermouth, Cumberland.

The 1891 census showed they lived in Waterloo Terrace, Flimby, Cockermouth, Cumberland. John William was born in Flimby, and had an older brother Jonathan.

By 1901 the family had moved to Wilson Terrace, Flimby, and John William had two brothers and a sister.

The 1911 census has the family moving to 27, Milburn Terrace, Bomersund, Stakeford, Bedlington, Northumberland. John’s Father was still a coal miner, and John was a miner rope boy, underground.

John William Blaylock is remembered in Bedlington on B15.06 in Choppington on C36.01 in Stakeford on S71.02 and in West Sleekburn on W34.01
