Derek Johnstone has provided the following:

George Young Davison, the son of John William and Margaret Davison (nee Young) was born at Scotland Gate, Choppington Northumberland in 1895 and was baptised on 15th May in the same year. His family was living at Hirst, Ashington in 1901.

In 1911 they were living at 34, Howard Row, Netherton where, at the age of 15, he was working as a shaft boy at the colliery. In the house at this time were his two brothers William 18, John Robert 7 and three sisters Ellen 13, Dorothy Richardson 3 and Margaret 6. The address shown for George when he enlisted is 34, Howard Row. His date of death in the Record of Enlistments is recorded as 28th March 1918 which is incorrect. His effects were allocated to his father but due to his length of service (less than six months) he was not awarded a War Gratuity. George, who was single, died of his wounds at Alnwick, Northumberland.

He is remembered at Bedlington on B15.07 and B15.26 page 124
