Carole Fife has provided the following:

Thomas William's naval record shows that he was born in Choppington on 30th July, 1891, but he was actually born a year earlier, and he was given the Naval categorisation of 'killed or died as a direct result of enemy action'. His father was his legatee which indicates that Thomas was not married. His parents were Thomas and Margaret, and Thomas was the third of seven children and the eldest son. After living in Choppington Station in 1891 they moved to Shiney Row, Bedlington, where his father was a Colliery Winding Engine Man, and where by 1911 Thomas was a Colliery Boilerman. Thomas was living at Ridge Terrace at the time of his enlistment.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.09, B15.19, B15.20 and in B15.26 page 32
