In East Mudros Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/1918 Able Seaman Joseph B. Glendinning, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 06/06/1915.

In Netherton Road Cemetery is the headstone which reads:

who died May 5th 1914 aged 577 years
William, son of the above
who died March 16th 1890
aged 5 months
Hannah Burdon, daughter
of the above died August
21st 1894 aged 3 years
James, son of the above died
Dec. 4th 1894 aged 5 years
Joseph B. Glendinning
son of the above died at
Semnos from wounds received
at the Dardanelles June 6th 1915
aged 20 years.
He did his duty
Also William, husband of the
Late Isabella Glendinning
Died Feb. 12th 1931
Aged 74 years.

The CWGC lists give his name as Glendenning whilst in the Enlistment book and and census returns and on the gravestone it is Glendinning. Joseph Brydon Glendinning was born in 1895 at Barrington Colliery, one of two children to William and Isabella Glendinning. In 1911 the family were living at 3, Hastings Street, Hartford Colliery, but by the time of Joseph's enlistment they had moved to 129, Rosalind Street, Hirst, Ashington.

He is remembered in Ashington on A17.43

His name is given as "Glendenning" on the CWGC entry.
