Craze, R., Pte., 1917
In Lapugnoy Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 22802 Private Robert Craze, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 18/01/1917.

He was a scout with the 1st Bedlington Troop. He died of pneumonia contracted while on active service.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

Robert is the younger brother of William who also died in France. He was born in 1897 in Bell's Place, Bedlington the youngest of four children to Richard and Charlotte Craze, and he became a miner like his father. In 1911 the family were living in Old Colliery Row, Bedlington (also known as Pit Row).

Derek Johnstone adds that the family originated in Cornwall. Mrs. Craze's maiden name was Tucker. Robert Craze was a coal miner before enlisting.

He is remembered at Bedlington on B15.02 B15.06, B15.20 and B15.26 page 12
