On the Soissons Memorial, Aisne France is the name of 13413 Private Ernest Reed, serving with the 12th/13th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 29/05/1918.

Derek Johnstone has provided the following:

Ernest Reed was born in 1894 at Blyth in Northumberland. Census information is not conclusive but indicates his father was Foster Reed, born at Seghill, Northumberland and his mother, Mary Reed, was born at Westmoor, Northumberland.

In 1901 his family lived at Black Callerton, Tynemouth and in 1911 the Reed family were resident at 7, Priestmans Cottages, East Benwell.

Ernest enlisted at Ashington, Northumberland when he was living at Front Street West at Bedlington. He went out to France on 9th September 1915. The CWGC records show his wife was Beatrice Isabella Reed and was living at Front Street West after his death. Medals awarded to Ernest include 1915 Star, Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
