BEDLINGTON

Beverley, G., Pte., 1917
In Brandhoek Military Cemetery, West Flanders, Belgium ,is the Commonwealth War Grave of 10764 Private George Beverley serving with 6th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment who died 09/07/1917.

Carole Fife has provided the following:

George's military record shows that he was born in Warkworth and enlisted in Bedlington. George, born in 1889. was the fifth child of Thomas and Bella Beverley. Thomas was a miner and in 1891 the family were living in Togston Terrace, Togston. By 1901 they had moved to Broomhill, where Thomas had been promoted to Deputy Overman, and were still here in 1911. living in Railway Row, and George and his brothers were all working at the pit. I cannot find a marriage for George but he must have moved to Bedlington to work because he appears on the Bedlington Coal Company Roll of Honour.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02 and B15.06
