In the Pargny Cemetery, Somme France is the Commonwealth War Grave of 22/1081 Private Joseph Thomas Orange, serving with 'C' Company 22nd Battaion Durham Light Infantry who died 26/03/1918.

Derek Johnstone has provided the following:

Joseph Thomas Orange was the son of William and Mary Jane Orange of Bedlington, Northumberland. Joseph was born in 1897 at Bedlington and enlisted at South Shields while living at Foggans Yard, Bedlington. In 1911 Joseph was 14 years old and still at school; his family at this time were living at Market Place, Bedlington. Military records available for Joseph show he was in France from 16th June 1916 to his death on 26th March 1918. It’s not clear if there was leave taken in this period. His occupation in these records shows he was a Drapers Assistant. After his death, his mother Mary Jane signed for his effects amounting to £12 15s 6d and £8 10s 0d indicating he was single.

The photograph used is from the Hammond and Robinson Public Family Tree.

Joseph Thomas Orange is remembered in Bedlington on B15.01 B15.02, B15.09, B15.20 and in B15.26 on page 76 and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance page 61.
