Nicholson, W., Pte., 1917
In Taranto Town Cemetery Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 31437 Private William Nicholson, serving with the Lincolnshire Regiment who died 23/06/1917.

Derek Johnstone has provided the following:

William Nicholson was born in Indiana, USA in 1872 and married Mary Jane Neiland in 1891. He was living at Half Close House Bedlington when he enlisted. William died from nephritis, an inflammation of the kidneys, while serving in Italy. On his gravestone are the words ‘Death divides but memory clings’. He was a miner before enlisting.

He is remembered in Bedlington on B15.02, B15.06 and in B15.26 page 4
