Margaret Allison says that the 1911 Census shows his address as being 15 Hawthorn Avenue, Ashington.
Morpeth Herald 08/09/1916 carries a brief obituary:
"Mrs W. Allan [sic], 30 Hawthorn Road, Ashington, has received information that her son, Private G.W. Allan, was killed in action on August 19th. He was a member of the Australian contingent. He left Ashington in September, 1912, for the Antipodes."
