In Hibers Trench Cemetery, Wancourt, Pas de Calais, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 290760 Private Robert Stirling, serving with the 1st/7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 18/04/1917.

Morpeth Herald 18/05/1917 carries a brief obituary:
ROLL OF HONOUR
STIRLING.- Killed in action, April 18th, 1917, aged 24 years, Pte. Robt. Stirling, Northumberland Fusiliers, dearly beloved and only son of Ed. and Margaret Jane Stirling, 25 Sycamore Street, Hirst.- Ever remembered by his aunt and uncles and cousins and all who knew him.
