On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1214 Able Seaman William Scott Webster, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 19/06/1915.

William was born on July 21st 1894. He was working as a miner living with his father, George at 116, Pont Street, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on November 6th 1914.

William joined the Hawke Battalion on February 20th 1915 and was posted as being killed in action in Gallipoli on June 19th 1915.

William Scott Webster is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43
