ASHINGTON

Mulrow, T., A/Smn, 1916
In Ancre British Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel, Somme, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/2808 Able Seaman Thomas Mulrow, serving with the Anson Battalion Royal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died 13/11/1916.

Morpeth Herald 26/01/1917 carries a brief obituary:
Killed in action on Nov. 13th, 1916, A.B. Thomas Mulrow (Z 2808 T), Howe Batt., R.N.D., aged 20 years and 11 months, [of Ashington].- (Will never be forgot[ten] by [his] sorrowing pals- Bob, Andy, Harry, Tony, Ned, Jack, Mark, Reuben, and J.B.)

Margaret Allison states that in 1911 his address was 12 Bentinck Terrace, Ashington.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

Thomas was born on 25th November 1896. He was working as a miner living with his father, Anthony at 142, Woodhorn Road, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 2nd January 1915.

He was posted to the Howe Battalion on 10th February 1915 and was hospitalised on 6th July 1915 suffering from gun shot wounds to the left arm and leg.

After rejoining the Howe Battalion Thomas was killed in action on 13th November 1916.
