In Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 235404 Private George McGuinness, serving with the King' Own Yorkshire Light Infantry who died 23/08/1917.

Margaret Allison reports that in 1911 his address was 16 Mersey Terrace, Ashington.

He formerly served with the North Cyclist Battalion.

He is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43
