In Valenciennes (St. Roch) Communal Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/2812 Able Seaman H.M. Curtis, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 07/04/1918.

Margaret Allison reports that in 1911 he lived at 1 Portia Street, Ashington, and was aged 28 when he died.

He is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27), A17.06 and A17.43
