Robert was born on January 12th 1890. He was working as a miner, living with his parents, William and Sarah at 64, Beatrice Street, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on November 5th 1914.
He joined the Collingwood Battalion on March 4th 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in Gallipoli on June 4th 1915.
