Colman, W., A/Smn., 1917
In Point-du-Jour Military Cemetery, Athies is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/3775 Able Seaman William Colman, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 24/04/1917.

Colin Boyd has submitted the following:

William was born on May 21st 1893. He was working as a miner living with his father, James at 86, Milburn Road, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on February 6th 1915.

He joined the Howe Battalion on September 21st 1915 and served until he was hospitalised with Jaundice on November 15th 1915. After rejoining on December 8th 1915 William was hospitalised again, this time with Pleurisy on December 18th 1915. He rejoined the Howe Battalion again on February 28th 1916 only to report sick again with Myalgyia on July 18th 1916. William rejoined yet again and was posted as being killed in action in France on April 24th 1917.

He is remembered in Ashington on A17.43
