On the Arras Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/1476 Able Seaman Jacob Patrick, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 22/04/1917.

Jacob was born on September 13th 1895. He was working as a miner living with his father, John at 34, Ninth Row, Ashington when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on November 9th 1914. This address was later changed to 87, Eighth Row, Ashington.

He joined the Hawke Battalion on March 10th 1915 and was hospitalised with a shrapnel wound to the chest on July 13th 1915.

After rejoining the Hawke Battalion on July 23rd 1915 Jacob was invalided to the UK on September 18th 1915 suffering from Dysentery.

He joined the Nelson Battalion in France on November 27th 1916 and was posted as killed in action on April 22nd 1917.

Jacob Patrick is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27), A17.08 and A17.43
