In Ashington (St. Aidan's) Roman Catholic Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:-

13489 Private M. LangNorthumberland Fusiliers7th October 1917.

Coroners report Number 431, 8th October 1917.
"Matthew Lang aged 28 years. Private No 13480, 12th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, Depot Newcastle. Home address. No 69 Sycamore Street, Hirst, Northumberland, died in 1st Northern General Hospital at 3.40pm on 7th.

After enquiries the Coroner granted a Certificate. No inquest necessary. Injured at seat of war."

He is remembered at Ashington on A17.28
