Sgt Morris was an air gunner aboard Handley Page Halifax III MZ541 C8-U of 640 Squadron, which was lost on a mission to bomb railway yards at Trappes. The Halifax was shot down by a Luftwaffe night fighter and crashed 1 km south east of Epernon, with the loss of all seven crew.
