Barron, T., Pte., 1916
On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, is the name of 290837 Private Thomas Barron, serving with the 1st/7th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 14/11/1916.

Morpeth Herald 19/01/1917 carries a brief obituary:
Private T. Barron, of Hawthorne [sic] Road, Hirst, has been killed in action. Prior to enlisting he worked at Linton Colliery, and was well known in the district. His relatives have received a short poem, entitled “In Memory of my Pal,” from a comrade in France.
He was the son of Mrs. Mary A. Barron, of 19, Hawthorn Road, Ashington.

Margaret Allison reports that in the 1911 Census he lived at 13 Hawthorn Road, Ashington.

He is remembered at Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27) and A17.43, and as "Pte. T. Baron" in the Battalion History
