In Roye New British Cemetery, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1569054 Sergeant (Air Gunner) George Lyall, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 23/04/1944.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:
Sgt Lyall was killed when Avro Lancaster III JA933 60-S of 582 Squadron was lost on a mission to bomb railway yards at Laon. The Lancaster was intercepted by a Luftwaffe night fighter and exploded, crashing at Dives with the loss of all seven crew.

Lancaster JA933 60-S had departed Little Staughton at 2214 for Ops Laon.
It was intercepted at 2300M, 10-20km SE of Rosieres by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht Jagd “Experten” Hptm Martin Drewes (Stab III/NJG1) and shot down at 0027 for his 21st Abschuss
