Claridge, W.T., W/Off., 1944
In Maastricht General Cemetery, Limburg, the Netherlands, is the Commonwealth War Grave of R/11959 Warrant Officer William Thomas Claridge, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force, who died 28/04/1944.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:
Warrant Officer Claridge, whose birth was registered at Morpeth in December 1922, was serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was killed in Handley Page Halifax II JN954 VR-R of 419 (R.C.A.F.) Squadron, which was shot down by a Luftwaffe night-fighter on a mission to Montzen. The Halifax crashed in the south-eastern suburbs of Maastricht with the loss of all seven crew.

Halifax JN954 VR-R had departed Middleton St. George at 2326 for Ops Montzen
It was intercepted at 3700M above Heer, 4km ESE of Maastricht by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht Jagd “Experten” Hptm Hans-Heinz Augenstein (XII/NJG1) and shot down at 0133 for his 27th Abschuss
