In Tweedmouth Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of LT/MX 84686 Assistant Cook James Nicholson serving on H.M.S. Europa, Royal Naval Patrol Service who died 13/01/1942.

The family headstone reads:

aged 56 years.
Also of Margery Whitlie
dearly loved wife of the above
who died 14th March 1964 aged 84 years.
Also James Nicholson R.N.
only son of the above
and beloved husband of
Eleanor E. Brown
killed by enemy action at Lowestoft
13th January 1942 aged 35 years.
Also Jane Valentine
beloved daughter of the above
who died 30th December 1974
aged 64 years.
