In Tweedmouth Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 639811 Sergeant (Wireless Operator) Henry Knowles serving with the 233 Squadron Royal Air Force who died 24/10/1940.

The family headstone reads:

Erected by his mother
in
loving memory of
Sgt. Henry Knowles, R.A.F.
killed in action 24th Oct. 1940
aged 19 years.
Also his mother
Eleanor Knowles
died 12th Aug. 1954 aged 73 years.
