In Norham St. Cuthbert's Churchyard is a family headstone for Weatherstone which reads:

Thomas Weatherston
who died at Horncliffe,
August 19th 1907,
aged 71 years.
also John, younger son
of the above, reported missing
in France, Sepr. 14th 1918,
aged 28 years
also Elizabeth, wife of
the above Thomas Weatherston,
who died March 30th 1935
aged 87 years.

Margaret Allison states that John Weatherstone lived in Ashington.

Soldiers Died in the Great War states that he was born in Horncliffe and enlisted and resided at Ashington. He had previously served with the Northumberland Fusiliers with the service number 27957.
