In Croisilles British Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Corporal William Purvis, M.M. and Bar, serving with the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) who died 26/06/1917.

In Norham St.Cuthbert's Churchyard is a family headstone for Purvis which reads:

son of the above
who fell in action
June 26th 1917, aged 27 years

Also Euphemia Christison
youngest daughter
of the above, who died
June 7th 1938, aged 35 years.
Also Elizabeth Maxwell
wife of the above
George Purvis
who died at Monkseaton
Sept. 9th 1945 aged 87 years.
