In Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm) is the Commonwealth War Grave of 3370 Private James Porteous, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 27/03/1916.

In Carham (St. Cuthbert) Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory
of
John Porteous
beloved husband of
Jessie Scott,
who died at Presson, 19th Sept.
1937, aged 74 years.
Also the above
Jessie Scott,
who died 10th June 1941,
aged 74 years.
Also their beloved son
James,
Killed in action in France,
27th March 1916,
aged 20 years & 10 months.
