Gray, E.L., 2nd Lieut., 1918
In Mordington Burial Ground, Berwick-upon-Tweed, is the Commonwealth War Grave of Second Lieutenant Edward Leadbetter Gray, serving with the Royal Flying Corps, who died 22/03/1918.

Simon Glancey has submitted he following:

2nd Lt. Gray, of the 13th Training Squadron, was killed when de Havilland D.H.6 C7663 crashed near Yatesbury, Wiltshire, on a training flight.

The Globe of Tuesday 22/03/1918 reported the following:

NOSE DIVE TO DEATH
Three lives were lost in flying accidents in North Wiltshire during the week-end. Captain Albert Higgs Vinson, R.F.C., and Second Lieut. E. Leadbeater [sic] Gray, R.F.C., were the occupants of a machine that nose-dived to earth from a height of 200 ft., and both were killed. On the following day Lieut. W.E. Carter was killed.

2nd Lt. Gray had previously served in West Africa as a Captain with the Royal Scots.

Edward Leadbetter Gray is remembered in Berwick on Tweed on B25.21
