In Blokzijl General Cemetery, Overijssel, the Netherlands, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 1488758 Sergeant Leslie Seton Dewar Swanston, serving with the Royal air Force Volunteer Reserve, who died 15/02/1944.

Sgt. Swanston was killed when Avro Lancaster III JB420 DX-S of 57 Squadron was lost on a mission to Berlin. The Lancaster crashed near Blokzijl, with the loss of all seven crew members.

Lancaster JB420 DX-S had departed East Kirkby at 1725 for Ops Berlin. It was intercepted at 6400M nr Blokzijl by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht-Jagd “Experten” Oblt Hermann Greiner (XII/NJG1) and shot down at 2259 for his 15th Abschuss.
