In Berwick upon Tweed Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 3221 Private T.M. Johnston serving with the 5th Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) who died 27/12/1916.

The headstone reads:

In affectionate remembrance
of
Ann Marshall
Beloved wife of
James Johnstone, sergeant at mace,
Died on the 16th of June 1851
Aged 47 years.
Also George Johnstone
Son of the above who died in infancy
Also the above
James Johnstone
Died on the 10th Dec. 1918
Aged 73 years
Also
Pte. Thomas Marshall, H.L.I.
Son of the above died at
Catterick Camp 22nd Dec. 1916
Aged 39 years.
