Eileen Duncan has provided the following:

He was born at South Charlton in 1893, the second son of John William and Jane Ann Nicholson. He had two brothers and two sisters.

By 1911 census he is listed as a hind working with horses on the farm.

He was in the Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire) Regiment (enlisted at Alnwick) and his service number was 42865.

James Henry died of his wounds in France on 28th September 1918 and is buried in Thilloy Road Cemetery, Beaulencourt. He is listed as 'J. Nicholson' by the War Graves Commission which has made him harder to trace.

I remember his younger brother and sister from when I lived at South Charlton which is why I wanted to trace him.

James Henry Nicholson is remembered on S39.01 and on page 64 of A11.56
