In Rothbury Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 115645 Private Isaac Ernest Young serving with the Royal Army Medical Corps who died 27/11/1918.

The family headstone reads:

In memory of
Annie
beloved wife of George Young
who died at Wingates
Aug. 19th 1917, aged 53 years
the above George Young
who died at Rothbury
March 21st 1920, aged 59 years
also Isaac Ernest their son
who died at Wingates
Nov. 27th 1918, aged 20 years
also Thomas George their son
who died at Rothbury
April 26th 1924, aged 21 years

Isaac was born at Longhorsley and at the time of his enlistment, at Newcastle -upon Tyne on the 4th March 1916, he was employed as an engine driver/miner and was living at Morpeth.

He was discharged from the R.A.M.C. on 2nd April 1918. He spent a period of time in a sanatorium in Blackpool suffering from the effects of Tuberculosis of the Lungs during February 1918. This along with the Scarlet Fever he suffered when younger (according to his medical report), may have resulted in his eventual death.
