Sergt Thompson lived at Cragend Farm. He was a member of the crew of Lancaster I DV371 EM-M which left Spilsby on a sortie to Berlin. One crew member was taken Prisoner, the others are all buried in Berlin.

Lancaster DV371 EM-M had departed Spilsby at 1715 for Ops Berlin It was probably intercepted by a Night-Fighter captained by Oblt Hans Leickhardt (II/NJG5) and shot down at 2023 for his 11th Abschuss
