Flying Officer J. Storey of 61 Sqn, was killed in Avro Lancaster I DV344 QR-V, which failed to return from a mission to Berlin on January 2nd 1944. It crashed near Wiesenhagen in Germany with the loss of all seven crew. It was reportedly shot down by a German night fighter. All the crew now rest in the Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery.

Tony Hibberd adds the following:
Lancaster DV344 QR-V had departed Skellingthorpe at 0001 for Ops Berlin. It was engaged by 1-5/schw Flak Abt 211 and schw Flakbattr z.b.V 5549, hit and shot down. The aircraft crashed at Kliestow t 0330.
