Morpeth Herald 03/03/1916 carries a brief obituary:

News has been received by Mr and Mrs John Roper, Hotspur Street, Alnwick, that their youngest son, Private George Roper, 2/7th [sic]Northumberland Fusiliers, died on February 22 from a wound in the head received in action in France on the preceding day.
