On the Malta Memorial is the name of 1127087 Warrant Officer James Douglas Cook, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 25/04/1944.

W/O J D Cook of 520 Sqn, was killed in Spitfire Vb (Tropicalised) EP412. The Spitfire suffered engine failure immediately after take off from Gibraltar and plunged into the sea, killing P/O Cook.
