On the Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of C/TD/X 2012 Ordinary Signalman Frederick Hodgson Piper, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who died 24/05/1941.

In Newcastle-upon-Tyne (West Road) Cemetery is a headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
my dear wife Maud E. Bartram
died 26th Feb. 1945 aged 25 years.
Also Samuel R. Piper
died 4th Sept. 1953 aged 66 years.
also his son Fred. H. Piper
died 25th May 1941 in H.M.S. Hood
aged 24 years.
also Harriet Plows
died 29th Aug. 1966 sged 70 years.

Fred was born on the 7th October 1915 in Whorlton, Northumberland to Samuel and Harriet Piper. He was the husband of May Piper, of Blackhlll Rocks, County Durham.

Frederick Hodgson Piper is remembered at Gateshead in G39.103 at Whorlton on W53.02 and in our Ships Crew list.
