On the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France is the name of 22/730 Private James Cowie, serving with 'B' Company, 22nd Battalion (3rd Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers, who died 01/07/1916.

James was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of Mary of 35 Dibley Street, Byker and the late Peter.

He was initially reported missing but later recorded as killed in action on the 1st July 1916.
