Ron Carson has provided the following:
John George was born on 27 September 1890 at Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of John and the late Ann (nee Archbold) of Salters Lane, Gosforth.
He married Eleanor Louise Short at Newcastle in the second quarter of 1913 and they had one daughter, Rhonda Louise, born on 12 January 1916. They lived at 44 Rokeby Terrace, Heaton, Newcastle.
John served with 905th Transport Company, Army Service Corps and apparently died at sea on 4 July 1917. He is commemorated on the Savona Town Memorial, Italy on stone number 7.
