In Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2475 Private John Armstrong, serving with the Army Cyclist Corps who died 26/04/1918.

Soldier Died in the Great War states that he was born in St. Andrews, Newcastle; that he enlisted in Jarrow and lived in Newcastle. He had formerly served with the King's Own Scottish Borderers.
