Colin Boyd has provided the following:
Edwin was born on 27th April 1897. He was working as a carter living with his parents, John and Mary at 5, St. Cuthbert's Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division (Tyneside Z/5266) on 14th June 1915.
He was discharged invalided on 12th August 1915 suffering from Splenic Anaemia.
Edwin then enlisted in the 3/8 Battalion (TF) Northumberland Fusiliers on 31st August 1915 only to be discharged as medically unfit on 19th November 1915 due to Splenic Anaemia.
Undeterred Edwin enlisted in the 35th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and died in service on 21st April 1917.
His name does not appear on any local memorials.
