Munn, J.B., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/2325 Able Seaman James Brannen Munn, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

James was born on 15th May 1892. He was working as a motor warehouseman living at 86, Tamworth Road, Newcastle upon Tyne when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 15th December 1914. His next of kin was shown as his father, Joseph Stewart Munn of 84, Hawes Street, Newcastle upon Tyne.

He joined the 4th Platoon, "D" Company of the Collingwood Battalion on 4th March 1915 and was posted as missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 4th June 1915. Tyneside Z/2354 A/Smn Shilan reported " I saw Munn hit and fall seriously wounded. No doubt that Munn was dead and told his brother that he was dead."

His name does not appear on any local memorial.
